The first Anthurium was brought to Europe in 1857 from the tropical rainforests of Middle- and South-America. By now, there are about five hundred species of Anthurium in Europe, all of them with characteristically intense colours.
Anthurium leaves exist in uniform orange, red, pink, white, green, brown, in patterned and multicoloured mixtures. This house plant draws all the attention for its cheerfulness and enthusiasm. Some call it ‘flamingo plant’ for its exotic colours and for the stem, which is said to remind of the long neck of the flamingo.
